Charitable Contributions
You have several ways to support the mission of the Charbonneau Arts Association and help keep art education in our schools. When you do, you will be joining a growing list of generous benefactors and previous festival sponsors, donors and partners.
Year-Round Charitable Contributions
You can make a direct charitable contribution online or by printing off the form and mailing it to us with your check . Either way your financial support helps us help local students.
Remember, we are an all-volunteer organization and all proceeds go directly to support art education in local high schools. Whatever way you decide to support our mission, your contribution is tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law both with the IRS and Oregon Income Tax. And rest assured we will never share or sell your donor information to any outside organization.
Donate Easily with Your Purchases
Your everyday purchases can help through corporate donation programs
Fred Meyer Community Rewards
When you shop at Fred Meyer, a portion of eligible purchases can go to Charbonneau Arts Associations as a donation. It is simple to set up. With your Fred Meyer Rewards cards, you go to your online account, select “Community Rewards” on the left and then ask that contributions from the Fred Meyer Foundation related to your eligible purchases be made to “Charbonneau Arts Association.” This contribution does not detract from any of your benefits in the Fred Meyer Rewards program.
Festival of the Arts Sponsor
Since all proceeds from our annual fundraiser, the Festival of the Arts, go directly to the local high school arts programs, we depend on the support of our generous sponsors each year to help us present the best experience for all.
Festival of the Arts Sponsors receive special recognition in all our promotional materials to help publicize your support.
In-Kind Gifts
Another way to support our mission is to make an in-kind gift of an item we could feature in our annual silent auction. This event is one of the central means we have of raising funds to support art education. Your donation of an item helps us raise those much-needed funds.
During the period leading up to our Festival of the Arts, we welcome your gifts to our auction. If you are interested in supporting us in this way, we will put you in touch with the organizers of the Silent Auction event.
If you are able to donate to the auction, please contact: Cathi McLain, Chair, Festival of the Arts at cathi@mclainco.com
Matching Gift Program
Toward the end of the year, you can double the impact of your tax-deductible donation. Thanks to several generous supporters, your donations of any size, made by December 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to whatever is stated as the match target.
Each year this Matching Donation Challenge is one of our major fund-raising activities. Last year’s appeal made it possible to donate an additional $5,000 to the art programs at Canby and Wilsonville High Schools and the music program at Canby High. Help us continue. Success with this year’s Donation Challenge will make it possible to contribute–and hopefully increase–the amounts we can donate to local art education and music programs.
The Bottomline: Your Support Helps You & All of Oregon Celebrate the Arts
1. As a Tax Deduction —
Because we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, your direct contributions are tax deductible on both your Federal and Oregon income taxes. You can also donate directly from your retirement account (401-K, IRA) and save on the income taxes you pay for that distribution.
2. As a Tax Credit —
Looking for more than a tax deduction? Charbonneau Arts Association is a member of the Oregon Cultural Trust. This means your donation results in a tax credit and a deduction on your Oregon Income Tax! A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction on the bottom-line better than a deduction — you may realize 100% tax credit on donations of up to $500 for individuals and $2,500 for corporations! For most this means when you claim your cultural tax credit, your donation dollar-for-dollar can be deducted from what you owe. You can’t lose and only give benefit to student art programs in our local community.
Go to: https://www.culturaltrust.org/resources/faq/, then click on “Tax
Credits” & open the following question:
Where do I claim my credit on my state tax form?
The Cultural Tax Credit is claimed using code 807 on Schedule OR-ASC, Section C, Standard Credits, or Schedule OR-ASC-NP, Section E. This amount is carried over onto the tax return using the following lines: Form OR-40, line 25; Form OR-40-N, line 50; or Form OR-40-P, line 49 (N stands for non-residents, P stands for part-time residents).
Users of Tax Software: In the list of “Standard Credits,” you’ll see “Oregon Cultural Trust.” Enter the amount you gave to the Cultural Trust there. It might also be referred to as the “Cultural Development Fund“.
Turbo Tax users: In your Oregon State return it is listed under “Uncommon Oregon Credits.” Check the box next to “Donated to an Oregon nonprofit and the Trust for Cultural Development Account.” View PDF instructions.
Trust donors should consult a tax preparer should they have any questions about their unique filing circumstances.
