Charitable Contributions

You have several ways to support the mission of the Charbonneau Arts Association and help keep art education in our schools.   When you do, you will be joining a growing list of generous benefactors and previous festival sponsors, donors and partners.

Direct Charitable Contribution

You can make a direct charitable contribution online or by printing off the form and mailing it to us with your check .  Either way your financial support helps us help local students.

Remember, we are an all-volunteer organization and all proceeds go directly to support art education in local high schools.   Whatever way you decide to support our mission, your contribution is tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law both with the IRS and Oregon Income Tax. And rest assured we will never share or sell your donor information to any outside organization.

Use this form if you wish to participate in this year’s “Donation Challenge” which matches up to $1000 a gift from an anonymous generous supporter.

Donate Easily with Your Purchases

Your everyday purchases can help through corporate donation programs

Fred Meyer Community Rewards

When you shop at Fred Meyer, a portion of eligible purchases can go to Charbonneau Arts Associations as a donation.  It is simple to set up.  With your Fred Meyer Rewards cards, you go to your online account, select “Community Rewards” on the left and then ask that contributions from the Fred Meyer Foundation related to your eligible purchases be made to “Charbonneau Arts Association.” This contribution does not detract from any of your benefits in the Fred Meyer Rewards program.

Amazon Smiles

A similar option exists at Amazon whereby a portion of your purchases will be donated to Charbonneau Arts Association.  It is called AmazonSmile. There are just four steps to set it up:

  1. Log on to
  2. Sign in to your Amazon account.
  3. Select “Charbonneau Arts Association” for charitable contributions.

Do all your future purchases through the portal, which is exactly the same as what you are used to at Amazon, but portal is the only way that contributions will be made to Charbonneau Arts as a result of your purchases.

Festival of the Arts Sponsor

Since all proceeds from our annual fundraiser, the Festival of the Arts, go directly to the local high school art programs, we depend on the support of our generous sponsors each year to help us present the best experience for all.

This campaign usually begins in May of each year.  We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has put increased financial pressures on those who might wish to be a festival sponsor.  And so this year, we are waiting until the early summer to begin this call out to local businesses with the hopes that the extra time and relaxing of “shelter-in-place” restrictions will be less stressful in the decision to say “yes.”

Festival of the Arts Sponsors receive special recognition in all our promotional materials to help publicize  your support.

In-Kind Gifts

Another way to support our mission is to make an in-kind gift of an item we could feature in our annual silent auction.  This event is one of the central means we have of raising funds to support art education.  Your donation of an item helps us raise those much-needed funds.

During the period leading up to our Festival of the Arts, we welcome your gifts to our auction.  If you are interested in supporting us in this way, we will put you in touch with the organizers of the Silent Auction event.

In 2020 because we have decided to present a virtual exhibition, our silent auction will also go online.  If you are able to donate to the auction, please contact: Elaine Swyt, Chair, Silent Auction.  503.329.7334 or at

The Bottomline:  Your Support Helps You & All of Oregon Celebrate the Arts

 1.  As a Tax Deduction —

Because we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, your direct contributions are tax deductible on both your Federal and Oregon income taxes. In 2020, Congress has sweetened the deal on the deductibility of charitable contributions. In the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act, the IRS will allow an additional $300 deduction for charitable contributions for filers who take the standard deduction. This is a universal “above-the-line” deduction that is listed as an adjustment to income with no requirement to provide documentation. Donating to charity could not be simpler or more completely tax free.

2.  As a Tax Credit —

Looking for more than a tax deduction? Charbonneau Arts Association is a member of the Oregon Cultural Trust. This means your donation results in a tax credit and a deduction on your Oregon Income Tax! A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar reduction on the bottom-line better than a deduction — you may realize 100% tax credit on donations of up to $500 for individuals and $2,500 for corporations!  For most this means when you claim your cultural tax credit, your donation dollar-for-dollar can be deducted from what you owe.  You can’t lose and only give benefit to student art programs in our local community.
