(Wilsonville, Oregon,September 1, 2021). With COVID-19 cases skyrocketing, the Board of Directors of Charbonneau Arts Association (CAA) has decided to postpone the38th Annual Charbonneau Festival of the Arts, “Art with Flair” from November 2021 to June3, 4 and 5, 2022. Planning has been underway for a hybrid event, with both a live and virtual gallery. But with COVID uncertainties, the organizers havebeen talking about moving the festival to thespring, with better weather that will allow them to take advantage of the great outdoor amenities at Charbonneau. It is also a better time of year for the teachers and students, and snowbirds who will be back from their desert homes. So, as the saying goes, it’s an opportunity to “make lemonade when life gives you lemons,” allowing for the transition without organizing two shows within six months.

The event was entirely virtual in 2020 and was successful enough to allow for the non-profit’s annual donations to the art programs at Wilsonville and Canby High Schools. All were looking forward to a return to the live galleries, artisan vendors, and the music stage, but with the safety of participants in mind, the postponement was deemed the best solution. It will also allow a broader collaboration with Wilsonville Arts and Culture Council, which has traditionally held their annual festival in June.

“Signups for the festival have been encouraging despite the concerns about COVID restrictions and so we will be reconnecting with all registered artists and musicians to help make it easier for them to transition to the June live and virtual show,” said association board vice president and website administrator, Elaine Swyt.
